Questions

Questions parents often ask.

If your question isn't here, ask it on your free call, or send me a message.

How do I get started?

Book a free 15-minute call. We talk briefly about what's happening and whether working together would help. If it feels right, you can book a first consultation.

What happens in a first consultation?

Before we meet, I'll send you a short intake form. The session is 50 minutes, online or at home on request. We look at what's happening, what's already working and what you'd like to change.

How many sessions will we need?

Change happens over time, as you start to meet challenges with new understanding. There are no quick fixes, and I'll support you through the change on a practical, everyday level. Five sessions can take you a long way. After that, I suggest follow-up sessions every few months, so we can review how things are going and decide whether to add more or change direction.

Is this therapy?

Yes. It's therapeutic work with parents. Together we work on reducing stress at home and building predictability and consistency for your child. Change comes from doing something different, so between sessions you try out what we agree. I don't work directly with children. If our work moves into areas outside what I offer, I'll talk this through with you and help you find the right service.

Does my child attend?

No. Sessions are for parents and carers. The work happens through the adults around your child.

Can both parents come?

Yes, the more the merrier. You can come on your own or together, and separated parents can attend separately. The work is systemic, so every important person in your child's life is a resource for change.

Do you diagnose autism or ADHD?

No. I don't assess or diagnose. I work with families whether or not there is a diagnosis, and we can talk through routes to assessment if that would help.

Online or in person?

Online across the UK. Home visits in East London are available on request, with a £25 supplement.

Is it confidential?

Yes, within the limits set by the BACP Ethical Framework. If I'm worried about someone's safety, I may need to share information.

Which languages do you work in?

English, Danish and German.

What if things are urgent?

This is not a crisis service. If you or your child are at risk, contact your GP or call 111, or 999 in an emergency.
